Vegetated MSE Retaining Wall

We recently completed the design, supply, build and hydro-seeding of a 130m long retaining wall for a national housing developer.

Vegetated MSE Bag Solution was chosen as the boundary retaining wall on this project due to cost, operational and environmental advantages over alternative retaining wall systems.

The wall, peaking at 3.15m high, runs along a protected tree line so it was important that the build of the retaining wall did not impact or damage the protected tree line and would blend into the natural aesthetics of the site boundary, MSE bags was therefore the perfect choice and will become carbon negative within 12 months!

HBB GeoSales Ltd provided the full package on this project, from initial design works, to the filling and supply of 3742 units, to the installation and finally hydro-seeding the wall with a low maintenance grass mix.

Geogrid placed every third course with a predetermined tail length as per design
Site won material was used as backfill

Vegetation had already established even before build completion and hydro-seeding!
Wall hydro-seeded within a matter of days from build completion, within a number of months the wall will become fully vegetated and carbon negative within 12 months!
